Working From Home ? Do you have any of the following symptoms ?

COVID 19 Pandemic has had undue stress on people across every sector. People experience and endure problems in any one or every aspect of health; Physical, Mental and Social. Majority of people around the world go through financial problems due to stay home orders, job loss, business closures and many other sorts of such loss which in-turn affects every aspect of Health.
On the other hand, there are group of people experience a whole lot of different problem due to WORK FROM HOME (WFH). This group may experience financial problems also but WFH have many other implications on health.
The focus of this article is on the physical aspect of health only. Below is the list of problems encountered by WFH/ sedentary life style. This list is not necessarily exhaustive. –

- Weight gain (increased fat mass)
- Dehydration
- Postural problems
- Deconditioning of heart and lungs
- Decreased movements in every joints
- Decreased neural mobility
- Weak muscles and loss of muscle mass
- Loss of bone density
- Tension head aches
- Spasm (Stiffness with pain) to muscles along the spine
- Neck pain
- Neck pain radiating to arm and hand
- Upper back pain (between shoulder blades)
- Elbow and wrist pain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (Use of computers)
- Pain around tail bone and bittock area
- Sciatica (Nerve pain)
- Thigh and Knee pain
- Tight chest and abdominal muscles
- Tight Hip and buttock muscles
- Tight hamstrings and calves
- Swelling around ankle a

All the above problems can be successfully treated through Physiotherapy. General exercises like walking, cycling, jogging and swimming secretes Endorphins (Happy Hormones) which elevates and improves mood and mental health. These general exercises are also very efficient for work from homers to overcome the above listed conditions.
These exercises are to be performed at least 3-5 x/week for better results and to prevent a general decline due to immobility. Please try to perform aerobic exercises, any above-mentioned general exercise that extends up to 20 minutes or more and are performed in a medium pace are Aerobic exercises.
People with underlying conditions may check with your Physiotherapist for the dosage; type of exercise, mode of exercise, duration of exercise and type of aerobic training.
